New Ricoh high-speed production printer brings users new levels of substrate flexibility, book-printing options

ORLANDO (GRAPH EXPO 16, Booth #2035), September 26, 2016 – Ricoh USA, Inc. today unveiled the RICOH Pro 8220s series, its latest high-speed black and white digital print platform series. Today’s production print environments, especially those focused on book printing, benefit from and often require flexibility. The need to meet fast turn times and shifting deadlines, and have the ability to print on thick and coated media for attractive color inserts to illustrate key points, can help printers find the capacity to take on new jobs quickly and efficiently.

The RICOH Pro 8220s series addresses these needs by offering tight registration and a new High Capacity Interposer (HCI). The HCI is a two-tray system with 1,750-sheet-per-tray capacity for post-fusing insertion of front and back covers or color inserts, printed on offset or digital printers, into books and manuals. The RICOH Pro 8220s series also offers users tight registration to help ensure more precise, clean output and delivers the ability to print on a wide variety of substrates without sacrificing speed or quality.

“Production print operations are defined by what they produce, their ability to meet deadlines and fulfill job requirements,” said John Fulena, Vice President, Production Printing Business Group, Ricoh USA, Inc. “The RICOH Pro 8220s series empowers printers to produce a wide variety of applications very quickly and efficiently by eliminating manual steps, making scanning quick and simple and making adding covers and inserts swift and hands-off. This is a device for the future of high-speed production.”

Aside from high print (96 to 136 ppm) and scan speeds on 8.27 x 11.69 inches (120 ipm simplex, 220 ipm duplex), the HCI automatically adds covers and inserts within jobs, saving significant time and labor investments. Meanwhile, the RICOH Pro 8220s series maintains its outstanding 1,200 x 4,800 dpi VCSEL quality on a wide variety of media, including coated media, […]

The Inkjet Revolution

Ricoh Europe, London, 22 September 2016 – When Ricoh launched the Ricoh Pro™ VC60000 we believed it would revolutionise the future of commercial print and open new worlds.

We designed the next generation, continuous feed, inkjet technology platform for graphic arts to excel at direct mail, marketing materials and book printing.

And it has.

Since then clients from right around Europe have invested in this game changing technology, from Poland to the UK and from Finland to France; and strong sales growth is set to continue.
Central to the Pro VC60000’s success is its versatility, productivity and print quality made possible by our unique 1200×1200 dpi multi-drop inkjet technology.

Better than offset
An early adopter was Dutch graphics media solutions company Zalsman.  It can now switch print flexibly between its offset and digital presses without increasing costs, but increasing flexibility.
Print quality was key to Adare SEC’s decision to make a multi-million investment in Ricoh systems, including two Ricoh Pro VC60000s. With a 60% increase in print resolution and our high density pigment ink it produces a better print finish across all applications.

Cost-effective flexibility
Poland’s EDC Expert picked Eastern Europe’s first Ricoh Pro VC60000 to increase production flexibility. It liked the ability to print transactional or advertising materials on standard paper, without any pre-treatment or the need for more expensive inkjet-treated papers.

Dutch full service print provider Pondres plans to address market developments and accelerate transformation with its refocus on inkjet printing production. It can now address quality demands for graphics in marketing collateral and introduce new products and services.

And German service and print group Haberbeck strategically invested to extend its digital print infrastructure to create a more agile customer offering.

Elsevier, one of the world’s leading publishers of high quality journals, added the Pro VC60000 to its list of validated High Quality inkjet print engines.
